Cinnamon Bread

I followed this recipe to bake some Cinnamon Bread this weekend, and it sure was yummy!

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar (I used splenda here)
2 eggs
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2/3 cup sugar (I used real sugar here)
2 TBS cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 350.  Prepare 2 bread pans with Pam. (I used a metal and glass one and they seemed to cook the same)

Mix butter, sugar and eggs well.  Add milk and lemon juice and allow the batter to become "smooth."  Add the flour and baking soda, it will become "doughy"

Mix the 2/3 cup sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.

Put a little more than half of the cinnamon sugar mixture in the bottom of the bread pans and then add about 1/4 of the batter to each pan.  Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar to it and then add the rest of the batter.

Bake on 350 for 50 minutes and then allow 20 minutes to cool in the pan.

The recipe is supposed to freeze well, but we ate the first loaf immediately.  The second loaf is going to some friends that just had a baby. :)   I really liked that the ingredients aren't too crazy, it was all something that I had on hand. Next time I am thinking about baking the second loaf in a muffin tin to make them easy to grab-n-go!

Changing the Front Door Locks

So Bryan and I decided when we moved into the house that we wanted to change the door locks... just for good measures.  We promised that we would do that immediately, like in the first month of living at the house.

This weekend we finally got around to it...  7 months after move in.  But hey, we got it done.

We bought the locks and new door handles at Lowe's in mid march and came home to get started only to find a problem.  It was 8:30 on a school night and we were stranded without a way to lock our door.  Luckily we were able to put the old deadbolt back on with the new handle (kinda on) and call it a night.

We had been waiting until Bryan and I both had a day off together so that we wouldn't be in a bind like before... and 2 months later we started again.

What are we doing again?

This is what my dinning room table looked like for around 2 months.

We got the handles and dead bolt off, but had to drill a hole in the back of the door.

So we called in reinforcements:

Finished door!  It looks so nice :)

Now the next project for the door... refinishing!  But I think I'll wait until it cools off to start that project. :)

Spinach wraps

Another Pintrest recipe, but it was yummy!

Ingredients:
1 bag of frozen chopped spinach
1 block of cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayo
1 packet ranch dressing
bacon bits or (when you forget to buy those at the store) 2 cups real bacon cut into small pieces
1 pack of wrap tortillas (I did two different flavors)

Bring the bag of spinach out to thaw.  Mix the cream cheese, sour cream and mayo until it is no longer clumpy.  Add the ranch packet, spinach, and bacon and hand mix until stirred together. Bring out the tortillas and spoon a good amount onto them.  Try to get it as even as possible (about 2 inches worth) and roll up.   Place in a pan and continue until all the mixture is used.  Place wraps whole in the fridge for at least 2 hours (I did mine over night). Take out and slice about 1 1/2 inches thick. Serve within 2 hours of slicing.

I wish I could say this was all it makes, but it made plenty... this was all I took a picture of.  I served it on a beautiful white platter and it was great.

BTW, this post equals one more post than I had last year... and it's not even summer yet.  It's gonna be a good year!

Kinsley's Bib and Burp Cloths

This is for our beautiful friends Tammy and Justin Hart's baby on the way... Kinsley Elizabeth.  Tammy's baby shower was this past weekend, and it was absolutly wonderful!  It is so neat to watch the Body of Christ celebrate a new life.  We are all excited to meet baby Kinsley.

Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Roll Up

Yum!

I made these chocolate chip cream cheese roll ups Friday night for Saturday... and let's just say these are delicious!  I got the recipe from Cookies and Cups which I found on Pintrest...  Here's what to do:

Ingredients:
3 cans of seamless crescent rolls
2 blocks of cream cheese
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of chocolate chips
and/or
2 cups white chocolate chips
and/or
2 cup Heath candy (chopped up)

Mix together cream cheese, sugar and vanilla.  Roll out the crescent roll flat, spread cream cheese mixture thinly over the crescent roll.  Top with either chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or Heath candy and then roll up.  Repeat 2 more times.  The original recipe only had chocolate chips... I added the idea of the other two.  If you have a different kind of candy, you could do it with that too.

Roll up and wrap in Saran wrap and refrigerate or at last 2 hours. (I did mine the night before, which was helpful.)  In the morning, take out and slice into even pieces--about 1/2 an inch.  Bake at 350 or 17 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy!

** I backed mine on the silicone liners, but I think they might have turned out better with out it.

Needing a baby gift?

If you are in the same stage of life that I am, you may have many baby showers to attend.  I will be going to my 4th baby shower today in 5 weeks (I'm not complaining in the slightest! I love all of these people and their new babies dearly!)

If you find yourself needing a personalized baby gift for a shower or just because, let me know!  I already have the bibs and burp cloths down and I am open to new ideas.  :)  I am planning on getting a new program this summer that should allow me to do some really cool things with my machine--I just have to learn how.  If you have a summer project you need done... let me know!

I can do any combination of bib/burp cloth you would like, or we could discuss something else if you'd rather.

Depending on the design and materials needed for the bibs and burp cloths, we can come up with whatever set/style you would like. Starting prices will be $10 a bib, and $5 a burp cloth.  That's not too bad!

I am thinking about starting an Etsy shop too.  I'll let you know when that is up and running.  It's kinda scary to put myself out there like this, that's why I'm startying with friends first.  Etsy can come later.

I also could do some wash cloths or baby shoes. :)

Have a great day, love you guys!

Sailor Bib and Burp Cloth

I very sweet friend at church ordered a bib and 3 burp cloths with a "Sailor" theme. This is what I came up with. What do you think? Let me know if you're interested in ordering something.

Custom Bib and Burp Cloths

So these might be my favorite thing so far! I made these burp cloths with Gerber premium burp cloths (6 ply). The good stuff. They are super soft!  These pictures make the ribbon look funny, but they don't look like that in real life... I promise!  My photography skills are not as good as my sewing skills...

These are a part of the baby gifts for Baby Krekel. He also got some baby shoes and wash cloths.

They also match the "Spit Happens" bib that I have already posted pictures of posted.

What do you think?
