We have a little suprise....

Well, Bryan and I have a little secret to announce.  Okay, okay... it's not a secret anymore!

I found out on January 22nd.  The same day our friends, the Lemoines had their precious little boy.  I had been thinking about it, and realized it might be too early for a test... and then again, it might not.  Bryan wasn't supposed to be home till around 5 or so, so when I got home at 3:45 I thought I might have enough time to take a test and figure it out.

First of all... I would like to announce that I didn't have a clue what I was doing.  I peed on a stick and then starred at it immediately.  A blue line appeared within seconds and I thought to myself.... that's it, we're pregnant. Then I read the directions and figured out you needed two blue lines and to give it just a little bit of time. Oh...

I put the test down and went to do a few things and came back, and what did I find?  I faint grey line.  What the box says is 2 blue lines is a yes, 1 is a no... IT DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GREY LINES that you can see in some light, and not in others!  What the heck?  So as I googled for answers, I decided my only choice was to go buy another test.

So into Kroger I went.  I grabbed the super expensive kind and I wanted a 3 pack.  So you know I would know for next time.

I went home and clearly got 2 pink lines this time.  I had ordered a shirt from Etsy that had 2 thumbs pointing to yourself saying "The man behind the bump."  I wrapped the shirt with the stick up as a little present for when Bryan got home.  Now all I had to do was wait for Bryan to get home.

So I waited...

And waited...

About 5 he calls and says he's on his way home. This is later than normal but I mean--I'm a big girl, I can wait and it should only be another 45 minutes or so.  I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he mentioned cooking something at the house when I said I wanted a hamburger from Sonic instead and asked him to pick it up on his way home.  He agreed without any argument.  6 rolls around, 6:30, 6:45 and finally I get another phone call (might I mention that I have become incredibly impatient at this point).  Bryan was calling to tell me that he had grabbed the burgers and was almost home when he saw a young guy broken down in the middle of the road about a mile from our house.  He pulled over and helped push the guy into a parking lot.  Basically... I have the most compassionate, caring husband in the world that will quite literally give people the clothes off his back (or in this case stop and help a stranger in need) even if his wife is waiting to tell him the most exciting news of his life.  I somehow lost my frustration and irritation at his tardiness.

5 minutes later he was home.  Before he went to change clothes I grabbed the gift bag and gave it to him.  I told him it was just a little something I picked up.  He opened the bag and pulled out the shirt only to drop the test on the ground.  He looked at me with slight confusion as I picked it up and handed it back.  You could see him thinking through the oddity of this gift when I yelled out "I'm pregnant!"

Shock combined with pure joy is the only way I could describe Bryan's face.  We had decided to start trying January 1st and had anticipated that it would take a little while.  Today was January 22nd.  You could tell he was starting to do the math.  We sat down to start eating when I pointed out that we were eating Sonic.  When we bought our first car and were driving home (actually we were headed to small group) we stopped and grabbed Sonic.  The night we finished signing all the papers and closed on our home, Bryan grabbed Sonic and we ate it on the living room floor of our new house.  He mentioned how Sonic was becoming our "big" moments meal.  Without knowing the reason, Bryan picked up Sonic for this night too.

We ate our meal and spent the rest of the evening in more silence than anything else.  I was headed to the shower that night when Bryan asked me to take another test "just to be sure."  I let Bryan watch the lines change on a 3rd test that day.

That's the story of how we found out about our little bundle of joy.  I know that I'm a few months late in writing this, however, better late than never!
